Aftercare and re-fit
Re-fits are free, whenever suits you.
Expect 12 to 24 months from a fitting, or 6 to 12 months on a watch you wear every day.
When any film we have fitted needs replacing, whether it is worn, lifted or marked, we re-fit it free of charge. Just bring it to the studio, at a time that suits you.
Selling or trading in? We remove the film before the sale, so the buyer sees steel exactly as it left the boutique.
FAQ
Questions, answered calmly.
The film
What is watch protection film?
A thin, clear, flexible film, from the same family of materials used to protect car paintwork, cut to the exact shape of each surface of your watch. It takes the everyday scuffs and scratches so the metal beneath does not.
Will I be able to see the film?
In normal light, no. The film is optically clear and every edge is cut to sit just inside the lines of the case, so you see the watch, not the film. You need to look closely, at an angle, to find an edge.
Can the film be removed? Will it leave residue?
Yes, at any time. The film lifts away cleanly and leaves no residue on the case, bezel or bracelet. We remove it for you before a resale or a re-fit.
Why film rather than polishing?
Polishing removes metal to take out scratches. Each polish softens the edges and changes the finish the maker intended. Film takes the scratches instead, then comes off, so the steel underneath stays exactly as it left the boutique. No polishing, ever.
Will it protect against knocks and drops?
Film is made for the marks that build up on a watch worn every day: desk edges, doorframes, laptop palm rests, other jewellery. It is not armour. A hard knock or a drop can still dent metal or crack a crystal, so treat your watch with the usual care.
Can fitting damage my watch?
Nothing is taken away from the watch. The film sits on top of the metal and lifts away cleanly, with no residue, whenever you want it removed.
Can I still swim or shower with my watch?
Yes. The film is waterproof and sits on the outside of the case, and the watch is never opened, so its water resistance is exactly as it was.
My watch is already scratched. Is it still worth it?
Film protects from the day it is fitted, but it will not hide deep marks that are already there. If your watch is due a service or polish, have that done first, then fit film to keep it that way.
Fitting and aftercare
How much does it cost?
Every quote is personal. It depends on your reference, its finishing and whether you want the whole watch covered or only certain parts. Tell us your watch and we will reply with a price and appointment options. Nothing is booked until you confirm.
How long does the film last?
Typically 12 to 24 months, or 6 to 12 months on a watch worn every day. When it has done its work, bring it to the studio and we replace it free of charge, whenever suits you.
